When I was little, we had a playhouse. I don't really remember playing in it, I think I was the one always covered in dirt, not making brownies or cake like a good little girl. I looked in the playhouse last summer and saw this hutch and thought it needed rescuing and boy oh boy did it need rescuing. It started out as a simple project and hey it was free so that's a good place to start right? Since it was free, we decided to get a piece of granite cut for it since laminate is, well laminate. So we took the laminate off and went stone shopping. We got a lovely piece of soapstone and was told it probably wouldn't take a hour to cut, at $75 a hour, we thought sure lets make it amazing. Ha! When the unknown source ;-) called to tell us it was ready they told us it took 4 HOURS, we were less than happy. They told us they would only charge us half. What a laugh, won't be going there when I put granite in my house! Unhappily we continued on. After the cost of sandpaper, paint, glass, soapstone, and our time in it, we would have been better buying a new one! It did turn out very cute when all was done, I stocked it with all sorts of food and goodies, hopefully Bon and Em will love this hutch for many years to come!
